About the ProgramThe Dave Bucciero Advanced Overnight Camp is designed for girls that are interested in playing soccer at the collegiate level. Players will be exposed to college coaches with an emphasis on high level training and preparation for the collegiate game. Some of the technical areas of soccer that will be covered include: Long ball service, heading, finishing to goal, crossing, 1v1 defending, and 1v1 attacking. Some of the tactical areas that will be covered include: movement off the ball, runs in the box, proper marking in the box, and team shape offensively and defensively. Each player will be placed on a team and every evening will consist of 8v8 - 11v11 games. Every camper will receive a written evaluation from his/her coach at the end of the week with ideas of how to improve as a player. A typical camp day will look like this: 7:00 AM: Wake-up! LocationThe Dave Bucciero Soccer Camp will take place at Tenley Field, Jacobs Field, and the Massachusetts Ave. Soccer Field. All three of these fields are located on the campus of American University and within walking distance of the dormitories where campers will be housed. In case of inclement weather, camp will take place indoors on campus. Housing and MealsCampers are housed in on campus dormitories at American University. All dorms are air-conditioned and you may request a roommate for the week. The American University dining services will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day. The staff will also be housed in the dorms and provide 24 hour supervision. Athletic TrainersThere will be an athletic trainer on site during all sessions to care for all injuries. All campers must have proof of personal medical insurance. In the event of illness or injury requiring treatment, hospitalization, or surgery, family medical insurance must be used. Routine health care will be provided by the camp athletic trainer; however, staff will not dispense aspirin or other medications, unless instructed to do so. Although every attempt will be made to contact parents or guardians in case of emergency, the medical treatment authorization/release portion of the registration form must be signed to grant permission for any medical attention needed to be authorized by the camp director or athletic trainer. |
