Curriculum

Goalkeeping is a unique position and requires specialized training to develop the skills, fitness, and confidence, necessary to be a top goalkeeper.

Each of my camps and clinics are different and usually involve working with different age groups. However, all my camps and clinics strive to develop each goalkeeper technically, tactically, and physically.

In addition, the programs are designed to be progressive based on the age and ability of each goalkeeper. Above all, I want each goalkeeper to have fun, learn, and improve as a goalkeeper. This is the goal of the Dave Bucciero Goalkeeper Camps and Clinics.

Areas of Focus

Some of the goalkeeping areas that my camps and clinics focus on include:

Shot Stopping - The proper technique for handling different shots and the correct stance and footwork.

Diving - The correct techniques in diving for balls to stop shots.

Deflecting - The correct technique for parrying and tipping balls over and around the goal.

Catching Crosses - The correct decision to attack crosses and the way to catch high balls and crosses.

Back Passes - How to handle back passes with your feet properly; first touch, the technique of playing shorter and longer balls, communication, etc.

Punching - The correct decision when to box balls, and the proper technique of how to do this.

1v1 Situations - How to come off the goal line correctly, decision-making in 1v1 situations, and how to prevent goals in 1v1 situations.

Distribution - Punting, throwing, rolling; the correct way to distribute the ball.

Angle Play - Proper position in all goalkeeping, the correct angles in dealing with different shots and different areas on the field.

Communication - How to organize your defense and communicate properly with your defenders and entire team.

Penalty Kicks, Free Kicks, Corner Kicks - How to handle these situations and prevent goals!

In addition to the above technical areas of my goalkeeping program, I will also spend time on physical training for mostly older and advanced goalkeepers. The physical training includes: aerobic fitness training, anaerobic pressure-training, quickness and agility exercises, and general footwork exercises.
