Dave Bucciero

David Bucciero took over as head coach of the American University women's soccer program in March of 2008. In just his second year, Coach Bucciero led the Eagles to the Patriot League Conference Tournament final, the furthest the Eagles have advanced since 2003.  Dave was also named the 2009 Patriot League Conference Coach of the Year, guiding the Eagles to 10 wins this season.  His staff assisted in producing 4 All-Conference players this past fall. Bucciero came from Boston University where he was an assistant coach for seven years, and the associate head coach from 2005-2008. During his tenure, the Terriers went 73-37-14, captured four America East Championships and made five NCAA Tournament appearances. Bucciero also assisted in developing 15 America East All-Conference First Team Selections and helped lead the program to its highest ranking ever in 2006, as the Terriers were ranked No. 10 in the country. During his time in Boston, Dave also directed the Dave Bucciero Goalkeeper Camps from 2002-2008. In addition to these responsibilities, Dave also was a Massachusetts State ODP Head Coach from 2002-2005./p>

Before coming to BU, Bucciero was an assistant coach at Texas Tech University from 1998-2001. During this time, he also served as a club coach and the Director of Coaching for the Lubbock Elite Youth Soccer Club.

During the last seven years, Bucciero has also been actively involved in the Region 1 Girls Olympic Development Program as both a goalkeeper and team coach. He is currently the Under-14 Region 1 Girls Head Coach as well as the Co-Head Coach of the Goalkeeper Program. Some of his responsibilities include evaluating and selecting the Under-14 Regional Team along with his staff and evaluating potential goalkeeper coaches for the Region 1 Program. He also holds both a USSF "A" License and an NSCAA Advanced License.

A native of Vienna, Va., Bucciero was a four-year letterwinner in goal at James Madison University from 1991-95. In his final two years at JMU, the Dukes advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. He also won an Under-19 National Championship in 1991 while playing for the Vista Hurricane Club team.

Former University of Maryland standout Valerie Rauenzahn, will assist Dave Bucciero with directing the camps. Rauenzahn was a four-year starter at midfield and defense for the Terrapins, which were ranked as high as No. 4 in the region during her four-year campaign. In her senior season, the No.25 ranked Terps loss 1-0 to No.19 Florida State at the ACC Women's Soccer Semifinals. However, their NCAA hopes did not come to an end, earning the at-large bid and facing Rutgers in the first round of the tournament. She finished her collegiate career with 11 points, coming off a goal and nine assists. She scored her lone career goal against Florida State in the ACC First Round in 2001. She also tied a school record for assists in an NCAA Tournament game with a pair against Long Island in the 2001 opening round.

Rauenzahn graduated in Dec. of 2003 with a B.A. in English, but continued to work with the team as an assistant coach through 2003. Working with the athletes in practice preparation and fitness work as well as organizing official visits were only part of her tasks. She also was responsible for game day operations, summer camp coaching in addition to community work and game organization.

From there Rauenzahn went to Duquesne University from 2004-06, studying for her Masters and working as the team's graduate assistant. She coached tactics and prepared the team's fitness program, including implementing a year-round workout schedule. Her responsibilities outside of the practice field extended to recruiting, player evaluation and scouting, as well as fundraising, arranging team travel and keeping the team's compliance records. As a result, the team had its first winning record and qualified for its first Atlantic-10 Tournament in 11 years. Rauenzahn graduated in the spring of 2006 with her Masters in Liberal Studies.

A local product, Rauenzahn attended nearby Good Counsel high school in Wheaton, Maryland, where she led her team to a No. 1 ranking with 45 goals and 18 assists in her senior year. For her career, she scored 85 goals and had 42 assists while being named to The Washington Post's All-Met First Team three times, including being honored as the Player of the Year in 1998.

Anabel Jimenez

Former Eagles standout Anabel Jimenez was recently hired as an assistant coach at American. Jimenez was a two-time captain and four-year starter at AU (2000-04) and has most recently spent time as an assistant coach at George Mason.

Jimenez served as a volunteer assistant at George Mason since January 2007, and assisted in practice and game day preparation, official visit planning and monitoring and coordinated team travel. She was also responsible for all community service projects. Jimenez also served as the Assistant Director for Drake Soccer Camps.

Jimenez is a native of the Washington D.C. area and played four years of high school soccer at Bullis High School in Potomac, Md. and was named All-Met before matriculating to American University where she was a four-year starter and two-year captain. In 2002 and 2003, she was named All-Patriot League and she was selected team MVP both seasons. She played club soccer for the Bethesda Scorpions, winning seven state titles. She also played two years for the Free State United. She was a member of the Olympic Development Program for seven years and was selected to Regional Camp each year.

After American, she played semi-professional for the Maryland Pride and Northern Virginia Majestics and professionally for the VFL-Wolfsburg team in Germany. She is currently in her third season as a member of the Washington Freedom and she coaches the WAGS Bethesda Renegades and the Classic MSI Renegades, both U-15 girls' teams. Jimenez holds an NSCAA National Coaching Diploma.
